Adam and Mary Beth Metz
The Metzes moved to Columbus in August 2003 to begin their ministry with the Alum Creek Church. Adam had just completed his Masters of Divinity degree at Lipscomb University, and moved to Columbus to serve as Alum Creek’s first youth minister. He is a native Buckeye, having grown up in Defiance, OH where his parents still live. Mary Beth began her work for the church in March 2005, as the office administrator and was instrumental in beginning the Alum Creek Preschool which opened its doors in 2008. Mary Beth is from Lewisburg, TN. They met while they were both in school at Lipscomb University.
Both Adam and Mary Beth have many hobbies and other interests – they love their children, enjoy traveling together, and love their church family! They have been blessed with three incredible, independent souls to tend: their first child, Clark, was born in 2005, their second, Clementine, born in 2007, and, Cecilia, their third in 2009. They illuminate the Metz family every day with laughter, joy, and . . . an ounce or two of stress – three kids are busy! When they aren’t shuttling their children around, they both enjoy reading, hiking, and planning their annual trip to Cleveland for the Indians Opening Day. Mary Beth enjoys running and meeting new people, and Adam spends every autumn serving as a high school football official.
Adam and Mary Beth have survived working together for nearly a decade and truly consider their ministry a blessing. They are very involved in their children’s schools in neighboring Westerville in addition to the many hats they wear at the church. Adam has continued his education and is nearing completion of a doctor of ministry degree from Fuller Seminary where his dissertation is focusing on the role of sports and youth in America. Alum Creek has truly become their family.
