What do you believe about the Bible?
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We are confident God inspired the men that wrote each book of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is divine, authoritative, and infallible.
When we need direction in life, are confronted with temptation, or need a source to bring hope, we turn to the Bible. The Bible is our guide for everyday living.
We are committed to the continual study of God’s Word, the Bible, to see how we can most closely give God the personal and collective worship He desires.
“It is useful for showing us the truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, and training us to live God’s way.”
II Timothy 3:16-17 The Message

What do you believe about God?
There is only one true God. In the trinity of the Godhead there are three eternal and equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. By His power God created this world and is now working through history to redeem His creation through His Son and His Spirit. |

What do you believe about Jesus Christ?
Jesus is the one and only Son of God. He left His throne in Heaven to become a man through a miraculous conception and a virgin birth. He lived a sinless, perfect life and died voluntarily upon a cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. He was buried in a tomb and rose three days later. He will come again to take us with Him to Heaven. |

What do you believe about Salvation?
Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me."
Romans 3:23-24 tells us, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." We have all sinned. We all deserve to be punished throughout all eternity for our sins, but Christ Jesus has already taken our punishment. God, by his grace, that is His unmerited favor toward us, can now be just in saving us, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Our redemption is in Christ Jesus, and not in ourselves.
In Ephesians 2:8-9 we read, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." We are saved by the unmerited favor of God through our obedient faith. There is no way that anyone could ever be good enough to go to heaven, because we have all sinned. We all deserve to be punished eternally. There is no way that anyone could ever earn his way to heaven, because heaven will be a gift of God for those who go there.
Mark 16:16 says, “He who has believed and is baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Believing in God is the foundation of our faith and our belief causes us to diligently seek Him.
Acts 2:38 says “Repent and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” The forgiveness of sins restores our relationship with God and we are promised the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. |

What do you believe about Worship?
Jesus says in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
In our corporate assemblies, we praise God and worship Him as our Father, Creator, and our Salvation. Each week we observe the death of Jesus through Communion. Our worship assemblies are also a celebration time of prayer, Scripture readings, Spirit-filled singing, and an uplifting sermon.
Our corporate worship services are a supplement to our personal worship in sacrificial living as described in Romans 12:1-2.
Please come and worship the Father with us.
Come as you are, but leave better than you came. |

A Brief History of Indian Springs/ Alum Creek
As told by Hope Richardson, a charter member
The Christians who formed the Indian Springs church were very like those who are working today at Alum Creek. We formed that congregation as a unique group of committed Christians. We believed in what we were doing. We did not really know one another although we were in most cases acquainted. We came with a willingness to do the Lord’s work and to do what it required to become a community.
At 7th Avenue Church of Christ, the Elders announced plans to plant a new congregation in the far north area of Columbus. At that time, there was little housing north of Morse Rd, a very scanty population. There were cornfields and pheasants. In the beginning, the area held much the same promise that the area around Alum Creek holds for us today.
Those of us who would attend the new congregation began meeting at an early worship service, so that we could bond together. Our offering was set aside to help pay for the new building. A young architect, a member, offered to design the building. An elder donated land. We agreed to sweat equity in the new building in order to achieve it on a budget. The congregation at 7th Avenue pledged to pay our first minister for a period of two years.
We began meeting at the new site in late summer of 1956 with only a few member families. Other than the sermons, we did it all. We taught the classes even those of us who had never taught before. We mowed the grass. We cleaned the building. We tended the baptistery. We took care of maintenance. We grew.
We had a series of ministers; the Lord seemed to always fill our pulpit with the man who would be most effective. Rawden Bullard, the first, taught Bible classes very effectively. One course was the history written by Josephus. We had a bulletin from the beginning; he said that he’d preach sermons from the pulpit and that we would use the newsletter to get to know each other.
Later, when Bill Curry returned from mission work in Nigeria, he taught us the gentleness of love and the confidence of our own salvation. Marlin Connelly had a way with the very young; his chalk talks were a popular Sunday evening feature. Mike Adams organized an office that provided a more effective base. Roger Coffman supervised a remodeling an expansion. George and Jane Wooster provided a Christian counseling service for more than ten years. Russ Corley taught us a worldview. Ed Kirkpatrick helped us do effective mission work in India. We accepted people with love and understanding. In the meantime, we helped to plant the Spring Rd. and Northland congregations.
As we grew, we would always be hampered by the zoning laws of the neighborhood and by our lack of parking space. From all those years, we learned and began planning a new congregation where there would be space for growth.
And so we came here… |
